Dear Mesquite-Toes friends and supporters...If you want to have an evening of pure joy, plan to attend the "Kids on Stage" ( Mesquite Childrens Theater) musical production of "Alice in Wonderland"...It is the Disney stage version for children and the Mesquite kids are doing it justice, beleive me! The show is this Thurs, Fri and Sat (June 24,25,26) at 6:30 pm, with a matinee on Sat at 2pm in the Mesquite Community Theater.
Tickets are $5.00 and are
available at the MCT box office. Box
office hours are Thurs & Friday from
4pm-7pm, Sat 9am-12pm and one hour before show
time.
As it so happens, I have done
the choreography and am the dance director for the
show. Most of these kids have never danced
before, but this experience has given them the
love of dance! I have nearly 75 kids (boys and
girls) and they are giving it their all. I have
dancing flowers, lobsters, sea creatures, a deck
of cards, etc: all part of the
Wonderland experience. It is so
much FUN!!!! Susan Bennett is the
director of the show and Jenny Bennett is the
music director. They have put in countless hours
giving our city and children the benefit of their
expertise.
Have of course, had the help of
some of the Toes and so good to have them reach
out to the community. Joanie Peck has helped me
with the classes and has made some beautiful
Wonderland character dolls for a raffle. Mary
Jane Vandeweghe, Sandy Hughes and Miriam Ricci are
helping with makeup during the
dress rehearsals or before the shows. With
the toes being involved and the children getting
to know us, we have a great opportunity for
expanding our audiences and a chance to be
" Mesquites Good Will Ambassadors" in a different
